Winner of the 2018 BC Wood Design Award for Prefabricated Structural Wood and the Award for Outstanding Value at the 2018 Structural Awards, this beautifully crafted facility serves as both the head office and manufacturing plant for StructureCraft, a leading designer and manufacturer of mass timber products. The design and construction materials showcase the very products StructureCraft manufactures, creating a compelling demonstration of what is possible using wood in an industrial building context. The facility includes a 10,000 sf office alongside a 50,000 sf manufacturing plant that produces Dowel Laminated Timber, North America’s first all-wood mass timber product, along with specialty timber structures.

Both the frame and cladding systems are constructed entirely from wood products, including Cross Laminated Timber panels, Nail Laminated Timber, LSL, and Glulam. Designed as a demountable structure, the building provides flexibility to expand or relocate entirely. The prefabricated wall and roof panels enabled remarkably efficient construction, with the timber superstructure erected in just one week. All four walls and a 40,000 sf roof were installed in five days, proving that modern industrial buildings can be created cost-effectively and attractively using wood. This facility sets a new standard for office and industrial design, exploring what is achievable with mass timber.
