St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church Parish Centre is a multipurpose, 400-person-capacity addition that won the 2015 Fraser Valley Commercial Building Award for its sensitive response to a distinctive forested site.
Located within a second-growth forest, the project faced the challenge of creating meaningful new program space while maintaining a genuine connection to the extraordinary natural surroundings. The design minimizes the building’s impact on the forest, and timber from trees removed during construction was repurposed as architectural features, transforming a construction necessity into a design element that honours the site’s character.
