A dignified, hopeful place to heal

Kinghaven Peardonville House is a three-storey renovation and addition to an existing intensive residential treatment centre that plays an integral role in supporting men at risk in the Abbotsford community. Funded by BC Housing, the project includes 65 resident suites and multiple offices designed to provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals working toward recovery and stability.

The architecture balances the practical demands of a treatment facility with thoughtful design that reinforces the building’s mission. The exterior features a residential material palette with dark-toned brick at the base, complemented by faux wood, pewter, and burgundy cement board siding. Dark-framed windows punctuate the façade rhythmically, while a standing seam metal roof provides clean, contemporary lines. Inside, a distinctive circular entry feature connects the administration and central meeting room to both interior and exterior spaces, symbolizing support, accountability, and continuing care. A large courtyard and plaza integrate seamlessly into the addition, providing outdoor amenity areas designed specifically to support resident well-being. Overall, the design avoids an institutional appearance, instead creating an environment that feels dignified and hopeful.
